Default Rear brake shoe ID

Helping a friend with a '66 XLH.
Was going to replace the linings on the rear brake shoes. Bought these off ebay.
Removed the shoes from the '66. They only had 4 rivets holding the linings. It's not a case of a couple of missing rivets, the shoe has only 4 rivet holes. The ebay (Superior) linings have 7 rivet holes.

Are these the correct brake shoes for the '66? I thought all the rear brake stuff (except the '75 on cable) was the same from '57-'78.

Do the four rivet spots line up regardless of the other 3?

Although, looking at the pic of the 66's shoes, they look brand new already.

Those linings are grease soaked, must be replaced. In all the sources I've looked at while hunting for linings the pics show both ends of the linings having 2 rivets, then 3 staggard.

I don't remember off hand what the shoes in my '69 look like. Guess I'll pull that wheel and have a look see. I'll check back back in.

Anybody have a set of rear brake shoes handy? 4 rivet holes or 7 rivet holes?

Sorry, can't help with the '66 or '69 years.

These pics are from the "rear" of my '71. 7 rivet holes.

Thanks Doc. Pretty sure my '69 has 7 holes. I'll probably just get some new shoes. Wonder what these mystery shoes go to?

Default 4 rivets or 7 rivets?

I just looked at the Technical stickys. Under "Brakes" there's a thread named "Rear brake spring installation". In it member Simeli explains the procedure with pictures.

His pictures show what looks like 4 rivet brake shoes. The 7 rivet shoes are easy to spot because they have the 2 rivets close together at each end of the lining. Simeli's don't have that.

Now I'm really curious. Gonna pull the '69 rear wheel now.

Lots of 7 rivets, some with no rivets (bonded I'm sure)
