I typically use the FSM, Parts Manual and Ironhead Stickys to identify parts and scope out assembly processes. There's a lot of good information there but I sometimes forget about Sportsterpedia. Maybe an enhanced link in the Portal and "Sportsterpedia" rather than "Sportster Encyclopedia" might help. Granted, not much of a change but I'm easily confused.

The general consensus is probably gonna be that it is there in the menu as well as at the top of the page in the different forum sections so advertisement is there. It is also a part of the forum just as all the other sections in the menu but it shouldn't prevail over the others as in highlighted but rather another feature of the forum. I do agree that it should read "Sportsterpedia instead of Sportster Encyclopedia" so as not to be confusing. I'll ask Bert about changing that.
Thank you!

Thank you for pointing that out.

Don't know if that's been addressed on the forum but I can definitely check. I'll see what I can come up with.

Sorry, I haven’t reported back til yet but I have been researching this and had to stop for some reformatting in the Sportsterpedia that we had to do.
It will take me longer to finish, format and package all this in the wiki than it will to give this information to you here and let you see what you want to do with it. My best advice is to contact Aaron with Hammerperf (208-696-1250) According to him, a 5-speed oil pump can be fitted to a 86-90 engine. Moreover, if the 91 and up factory oil pump can be fitted, so can the 07 Buell oil pump.
One thing, the pinion drive gear for the oil pump on:
86-87 is part #26318-75
88 and up is part #26318-88
So, 86 & 87 models would need to change to the newer (86 & up and advisably the brass one) pinion drive gear for anyone else reading this also.
The stock 4-speed oil pump acts as a pass through for the filter return line. When you take off the stock pump, it will expose a 1/8" hole in the bottom of the gearcase. Simply put a 90 degree fitting in it, before you put the new pump on. This will let you hook up the filter return line and give you oil pressure. You may have to tap the hole.
See post 5 and 9 of this thread: http://xlforum.net/forums/s...d.php?t=803496
You can do this on your stock case motor. Here is the picture of the assembly from post #11 (even though this is an S&S motor. S&S motors feature 4-speed oiling): http://xlforum.net/photopost/showpho.../44438/cat/500
Hammer does sell the 07 pump right now anyway and it is shown here: http://www.hammerperf.com/xllubrication.shtml
This thread details wet sumping conditions and in post #268, again Aaron sheds some light on this condition. In post #286 of this thread, he details a mod & piping with pics. This mod, of course, is done at your own risk but you haven’t stated why you want or need the oil pump upgrade so I’m just throwing this out what I’ve come across. http://xlforum.net/forums/s...=59421&page=27
Anything you find out from Aaron would be appreciated if you'd share so we can all benefit from the collective data....especially if you should do this mod yourself and take pics
Meanwhile, I'll keep looking thru the forum and prepare it for the wiki. Lots more research than quick answers I'm afraid. But I hope this helps.
EDIT: Here is the article for the wiki. Some pics of the 90 degree fitted to the case without the oil pump mounted would be helpful if anybody has one to give. Thanks for the suggestion.

Nothing comes to mind at the moment, however I did add a link to Sportsterpedia to my signature so I can find it when needed

That's a good way to keep up with it.... which gives me an idea.
Anybody that wants to add this reference to their signature but don't know quite how can simply copy the entire line below, paste it into your signature and delete only the word "DELETE" before saving it. That's the only way I could get it to show the whole path.
*[URLDELETE="http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/start"]Reference the Sportsterpedia![/URL] for more technical information & advice.
Then it will look like this in your signature:
* Reference the Sportsterpedia! for more technical information & advice.
The wording "Reference the Sportsterpedia" (only thing you can change within the brackets) can be changed/ arranged however you choose.
A few others have already done this but it just hit me that it might help somebody. Thanks for the bump on the head ParrotHead.
