Something different: 1948 Willys Truck
Closing down my MC repair business to finally work on my own stuff.
My current project:
1948 Willys Truck with a 1957 Studebaker 259 in it.
They wanted too much money for a new bed so I had one built out of
reclaimed douglas fir. A cheaper and better looking solution.
My friend Doug did the wood work for me.
Local bodyman Dan, did the paint just before he retired.... GM Regal red from '68 or so.
Engine cleaned up and all new seals and gaskets. Did not need a rebuild since it was a strong runner to begin with.
T-18 transfer case rebuilt
T-90 transmission waiting to be put back together.
Got an overdrive unit too!
Still have to re-seal the differentials and paint the frame and all.
It will have all new wiring and other upgrades.
I'll post up more pics as I go.

Truck's looking great!
But closing the motorcycle repair business? What happens the next time I enter WY or UT and the gremlins attack my rear brakes?????

Thanks Chris!
I'm always open to friends and travelers.
Just needed to trim a lot the excess crap I was doing.

You don't know how close you came to having me back again in June. I had the same brake issue as I entered WY on my way out to the IBR in June. I opted to continue on to SLC and bleed them first which worked for about a week or so. Then whenever it got hot they started fading but was able to pump them up.

If you enjoy helping others, doing work that you like, it is a good feeling when you have lotsa projects you can help with - and the money is always a bit of incentive. Work can be very rewarding...
But there comes a time to move on to retirement - which is also a great adventure if you're still healthy.
It looks like you have a nice project there to keep you busy - plenty of things to accomplish and feel satisfaction from.
More riding - whenever you want - Less money, but if you've been careful, that won't be a problem...
You really know you're retired when you have to stop and think a bit - to remember what day of the week it is...
