Officially there were 3 models of the 883 in the year 2001. Which one he is calling the 883R I don't know.

Maybe a picture of the bike in question would help.

The 883C could have come with a solid rear wheel that year.
Yep, should be asking if it has duel discs.

will a 19inch dual disk, 40 spoke wheel for 2001 narrow glide work on the front of my bike. I looked it up the full model is a Sportster XL883R, strangly enough I do not find this model listed on sopme charts for what fits

Is it a 2001 bike, or is it a 2002 MY bike made in 2001?

I wouldn't trust those pictures to determine the year. The second picture in the series says 883R under the picture and it is a picture of a Honda.
http://www.autoevolution.com/moto/ha...01.html#agal_1

The other pictures, except for one, the air cleaner cover is wrong for an 01. The text says 01 to present so the pictures could be any year after 01.

The picture is a rubber mount R, 04 and up

I get the idea . Its like mine 2002 & 2003 only but as Folkie said that doesn't mean some were not sold and registered in 2001. My "02" was.

other than the twin plugged "S" the R's are the only evo Sporties with twin discs.

My manufacture date is 10/2001, a very early 883R, they were released for sale as a 2002 late release in January 2002. Back then if you signed up with Harley Davidson they would send you emails on new releases. I got the email on my birthday and immediately went to the dealer and bought the first one they got and still have it.
