Adjust your carburetor with ethanol free gasoline if you can find some.
Using premium gas is not recommended to tune the carb if you'll be using regular in your tank.

Have you adjusted the idle mixture screw for best idle?
Try screwing the idle mixture screw in 1/2 turn and see if that helps the popping.

when hard on throttle and letting off quickly will cause a quick lean situation since cutting fuel and air ratio goes up.
That is normal.
Happened to me. Plus I have a 2000 and mechanical reserve on tank. I can usually tell getting low on gas when starts to pop and stutter then quickly put tank on reserve.

Just to be clear the roll off test starts at full throttle and ends at 7/8 throttle and hold.
Refer to the Mikuni HSR48 Manual.

I think I ended up in the 185-192.5 range. As others have stated, the mik tuning manual is pretty darn good. I’ve never been above a 195 main, 48 mik on pump gas. That’s running 91 corn gas, same ish kit as you have.
