Rotor Magnets Grinded Off
I recently had my rotor and clutch taken off and put back on to fix a shifter pawl issue, fast forward a week and now the bike was not starting with a fresh battery so I assumed it was the starter. I removed the primary and find that the magnets on the rotor have been grinded to pieces. - shorturl.at/nxEP8 - Does anyone have an idea of what could have caused this? I do not want to put a new one on a make the same mistake.

How did your remove the rotor ? If you bang it with an hammer you might have unglued them.

I just pulled on the rotor for a bit and was able to slide it out, we used a pry bar for about a second then decided it probably would not be a good idea. two of the magnets were loose after I took it off but I just slid them back on not really thinking about them moving

Question answered.
The magnets should never be loose. The crowbar either got them loose or assisted their looseness.
If you find loose magnets in the sprocket, don't put it back on. |

There's an aftermarket piece with sealed magnets, to prevent these magnet failures which are not all that unusual ...
