have another look at the 3rd gear you picked up.the one that had the washer with the 2 inner ears.looked like a scratch or could be a crack.it's not in the place cracks are usually found.pictures could be better for this than video.

I would suggest at this point of deciding to replace your clutch gear (and 2nd), you might opt for the “c” ratio gear set from andrews. This combination of clutch and drive gears lessens the big rpm drop from 3rd to 4th. You’ll wonder how you ever got along without it!

That would be ideal, but unfortunately not in budget for this project.
