I spoke with Fedex and they quoted me $2200 so they are out.

DHL looks like the best so far at $1300 and it appears there are some other charges involved with brokerage fees.

trying to convince the customer that it would be best for me to break the engine down into about 4-5 boxes and have him put it back together on his end as that will be so much cheaper!!!

OUCH! We recently sent an entire SGI Supercomputer to Australia (Somewhere around 1300 pounds) and I know it was not that expensive. Let me find out why.

Not sure about oz but in NZ you can use wood but stamped as treated. It needs the ISPM 15 mark.
Is it worth buying? I don't know but this will remove biosecurity concerns.
