Default Ever Owned a 500 or 750?

Has anyone on this Forum ever owned and ridden one of these 500's or 750's? How do they compare to riding a Sportster?

I had a Street Rod 750, it was a fun bike. Not as comfortable or powerful as my 1200 Sportster, but for in-city riding it was pretty good

Only comment I can make is from watching some 500’s in a class at the local H.D. Dealership. What struck me the most was the noise from the transmissions were noticible louder than the noise from the motors. Them sure are quiet motors.

Thanks for coming back on this. It's hard to talk or comment on these type of bikes when you don't know anyone that's owned one. I've been asked about them a few times and could only comment on what I'd read.

Sure thing. My SR has some minor quirks (finding neutral was super difficult, had oil pressure sensor fail with 400 miles on the bike, your thighs roast, especially when the engine fan kicks on) and beyond stage 1 w/ slip-ons and suspension, aftermarket was pretty much non-existant. Overall, fun city bike, I enjoyed owning one, and would own one again. Longer than 20-30 minute ride, forget it. Seating position too cramped (and i'm 5'6 so pretty short) and at highway speeds you get thrown around a lot

Having ridden a few of my friends XG750's extensively..I can say that they are pretty awesome..tight chassis, rev happy engine, great mid range pull, no issues keeping up on highway, crisp handling in the city..Can't compare the RevolutionX engine to our sporties obviously.

One thing folks complain abt is the heat from the radiator, which the fan blows onto ur thighs. This is true for most motorcycles with liquid cooled engines..i just shut off the engine waiting at stop lights, this seems to help..save some fuel and environment at the same time.

All n all they are pretty great, perfect for what they are ment to do (and with limitless other possibilities)..but ppl don't seem to give them the credit they deserve, just like our beloved sportster's

I would really love to ride one on a daily basis because i like the direction that engine platform has gone but i cannot justify a fourth bike and nobody I know rides one. Small harleys it seems are made to be treated like bastard bikes by the motor company. I like small quirky bikes like these.

Never owned one and never will. They remind me too much of the 80's Honda's. It looks like it's been cloned in India and rebranded them with some stickers.

I rode the 500 to get my endorsement when they first started using them. Great bike in my opinion, if that's what you're looking for. Was going to test out the Street Rod, but ended up just test riding some Dynas and Softails a few weeks ago. Bought the FXLR.

Remind you of 80's Hondas? I take that to be a compliment. My Nighthawk was just fine, my buddies Magna's, Interceptors and Hurricanes weren't bad either.

Oh, don't get me wrong about Honda's. Fine bikes. I owned three myself. CB650, NX650 Dominator and an NTV650 and rode many more. It's more the shape of these metric Harley's that reminds me about the earlier Honda days. Especially these VT's with that engine design and exhausts. I would have expected something newer and more original from Harley. But hey, today only marketing counts :-)
