Default Turn signals and switch required 1972 xlch

The Province I live in (Alberta) requires turn signals for motorcycles 1971 onwards. My 1972 XLCH never came with turn signals and no turn switch on the handle bar and no flasher module. In order to register in Alberta I need to temporarily add signal lamps and signal switch. Any suggestions?

Is it more or less original? If so you may be able to register as historic/antique and bypass that. I believe here in Ontario only bikes that came stock with signals are required to have them, but not 100% sure.

All original, number match. Thanks, I will see about registering as an antique. I already won on the lack of a front brake switch to light up the rear tail lamp requirement. here in Alberta the law sez when using the "service brake" the rear tail lamp must light up. I was able to confirm ONLY the rear brake is deemed as the "service brake". So no front brake switch required. Crazy thing is my associate has similar '72 XLCH that is Alberta original, no signals and holds active registration. My '72 is out-of-province type first time registration.

I would definitely check to see if they are required - If it was made without them, and your associate has registration, then I would think that you would qualify without them as well...

depends upon location and codes. sometimes a specialty plate is more expensive and the machine must be original. my machine had the same issues as mine was more 73 than 74 since hd did not throw away parts. we can thanks rice for that add on although not a bad thing. rice has changed many things over the years.
here, 74 was the requirement and mine was titled as 74 so they had to be there. does the bar hsg have the spots for the switches? maybe able to add them in or get a set of hsg. at one time, i had guys holler out hey man you have no signals, i responded, didn't need them and you didn't see the hand signals? no one here knows them anymore.

Do a search for "bicycle turn signals" quick and cheap.

UPDATE: After reading the legislation in Alberta I discovered that turn signals are only required on antique motor vehicles (includes motorcycles) "ONLY IF DRIVEN AT NIGHTTIME". As I only plan to drive only during the day I am expecting the Alberta Gov.'t Inspector to accept what the law states.
