Bryan,

Does this bracket comes with its own cable, etc? I mean... it does looks shorter than the original...

I did follow the instruction from Mikuni.... but I cannot find a way to make sure its closing properly... Maybe its just me being paranoid...

Is there a way (noise ?) to find out?

Paul,
Keep us posted on your results, please.

My, AFR tuning, screw does nothing when turning anti-clock wise, I can go way out and nothing.... clock-wise (richer) stumbles at 3/4 out from seated. I left it at 2.5 turns out at the moment.

It was running Pig-Rich but I did assume it was because of the Accelerator Pump was pumping fuel all the way to WOT.... the screw #2 mentioned above (Post #204) was waaaayyyy open, it was doing nothing.... now I left it closing the pump at half throttle.

Will go for a ride this morning and will report back.

I have everything switched . It's a Mikuni cable and nut also enricher valve . As far as adjusting it I did it on the bench Per the manual . I do have a bit of free play but not that much. I know it closes all the way because of the spring seems longer than it should be .

Best thing you can do during the tuning process is adjust the accelerator pump so it does little or nothing. It mostly confuses the tuning process and is the LAST thing you adjust after EVERYTHING else is right.

What size pilot jet are you running? You should be able to run the IMS out and make it idle worse. On Mikunis where the IMS controls air, best off idle transition is usually when "best idle" is with the IMS out 1 to 1 1/2 turns. The "choke" plunger does need to be seated so it's not mucking up the process.

I have a 3/16" play with no ill effects.

25 and 165 Main. Pump Nozzle is a 60.

Plugs look very clean white on the porcelain.... but dark/oily/carbon on the outside

If the choke plunger doesn’t fully seat you will get the “pig rich” issue.

Update:

All good now. Choke is working properly.

For those of you who r running Miks, the Accel Pump Screw #2 (as mentioned above) must be in the correct position.. Almost flat to the Carb´s body., very little travel needed or you will be running PIG-RICH.

The Carb needs to run on its jets, not on a stream of fuel.....

If anyone have questions, please, do not hesitate to contact me.... It´s not easy to write it here just like that.... (or maybe yes, dunno).

+1 During the tuning process it's best to have the accelerator pump doing nothing. Once you get the pilot jet, IMS, needle jet, needle and needle clip position sorted out you can adjust the accelerator pump if there's a need. A 42 Mikuni will probably run just fine on a 1200 with little or no accelerator pump shot. A 45 or 48 will probably want more.
