Whenever I see a thread about carrying while riding why do I assume most people assume the weapon would be drawn and fired while on the bike? Lol I think the complete opposite, I think about all the places where I ride my bike to and get off. Although, I carry 24/7/365 because I never know and it’s not a Nuisance to me, it’s a privilege, a right and I owe it to myself to protect myself and innocent people around me.

madnss, I live in a small town 40 miles from Columbus, Ohio. Very rural in this part of Ohio. Very few wannabe tuff guys out in the country. I lived in Columbus for 7 years & worked there for 35. Even tho I consider Columbus to be nice, for a city of 1 Million people, cities suck. On the rare occasions when I go back there, I don't go into the areas that I know to be dangerous. I also have traveled to 36 states on my bike & have not had a problem because I don't go to cities & when I know I'm going thru one, I stop & fill up before I get into town, so I don't need to stop in some sketchy neighborhood. Or maybe there's just something about me that makes people realize that it would probly be a bad idea to mess with me? As I said, I'm 69 years old & a Navy vet & I can't remember a time anyone, anywhere has offered to bother me. I give my God the credit for my protection. If I still lived in & had to deal with a city environment on a daily basis, I might carry. But since that is not the case, the point is irrelevant.

The best self defence is to not be there. I try my best to avoid the war zones in my area.

Nah, not allowed here, but A Zündapp KS750 with an MG42 will do nicely in a sketchy neighbourhood. You do need a passenger though.

That pretty well covers it, Glamazon. You said it with a lot fewer words than I.

since young
for self defence issues...
instead of carry a weapon
i tried to "weaponize" as far as possible my body... (i 'm not a max weight since i weight 70 - 72 kgs... but some satisfaction came whatsoever)...
obviously...
this is successful only on countries were firearms are forbidden...

that said i agree with Glam...
if you are involved on a fight... this mean that before you had not paid enough attention...

also

my Krav Maga trainer always said:
if you are victim of a robbery... the best thing is to give them fast what they want...
instead...
if you are harassed when you enter in your home... and in there are sleeping your loving ones... well... that is time to fight

Yes, been a CHL holder for 15 years now and never needed it. Except that one time, okay maybe 3 times.
1 aggressive boar, 1 copperhead and 1 coyote.
I make a point to stay away from the 2 legged animals and where they like to hang out. If I am on the bike then I can pretty much vacate the area quickly. Carrying on the bike is for the destination or stops.
