Paul; if you are able to make it to the rescheduled Springfield Mile, I'll sit on your bike then

Ride it for sure. Maybe I’ll make Cheviot before then?

I have a Sundowner Solo on my 2017 XL1200 C.
I sit back and up from the stock seat position.
On my bike (4.5 gal tank) the distance from the tank to as far back as my butt can go is 14" with the Sundowner. The same measurement is 12" with the stock seat and the CC solo. Moving back on my bike also means moving up because of the rear fender.

Thx, I have the same bike, 2017 XL1200C, 4.5 gal tank. Is that 14" from the front of the seat to the seam that runs around the bottom of the "pocket" you sit in? That's the dimension that would be most helpful.

Yes. 14" from the seat nose to the seam at the seat pocket.

Thx much, that helps. FWIW, my LePera Daytona Daddy Long Legs, while not a "bucket" has a similarly placed seam and it's at 13". Gotta visit a seat demo dealer...

On my 09 the 2 up sundowner moved me quite a bit forward, I don't like it.

That was the point of this thread. It seems the 2 up version for the older bikes and the solo version for the newer bikes position the rider differently. That's why the feedback is often contradictory. The older 2 up version moves you forward, newer solo version moves you back. Or so it seems...

That's a good idea. My dealer has demo seats so I got to try one out.
I like the Sundowner for it's comfort and placement. I'm 5'10" w/ 30" inseam for reference. I don't particularly like the 'look' of the Sundowner on the XL1200C. It is 15" at its widest and looks a bit 'fat' for the bike to my eye.

It looks a whole lot better at the end of an 800 mile day.
