Default Front brake hose

I need a new brake hose for dual disc 83 XLX, Part #45122-83 which are nowhere to be found. Am considering a 83 FXSB #45124-83 which will fit, but is a couple inches too long on the master cyl side. Anybody have to replace theirs, and what did you do?

I use adapters and Goodrich or Russell hoses.
Rubber hoses give a soft feel I don't care for.

Ferretface went thru this a few months back. Here's a link to his thread.
