Default 2 LED Bars for Haadlamps

Hey Guys, brand new to the forum and looking for some expert help!

I've been trying to figure out a way to get the factory headlamp switch to operate two individual LED Bar Headlamps instead of one High/Low Bulb.

The top lamp would be the High Beam and the bottom lamp is the Low Beam. The High Beam Lamp would turn on/off when the High Beam Switch is turned on/off. The Low beam lamp should always STAY ON regardless of the High Beam. I thought I was on to something with the last model Fat Bobs but they just have one or the other.

Does anyone know a setup that would work for this? I've been looking at diagrams and the CANBUS thing has me stumped. Right now I have both LEDs plugged into the LOW Beam but that's no fun.

Welcome to the XLForum...

Connector 38A/B is to the headlight.

On the headlight side of that connector (38B), you have:
Pin1 - ORANGE/White wire - to Position Lamp
Pin2 - WHITE wire to HiBeam of HL bulb
Pin3 - YELLOW wire to LoBeam of HL bulb
Pin4 - BLACK wire is Ground

You need to connect your lower LoBeam LED to Pin1 (ORANGE/White) - This wire is always on when the keyswitch is ON.

You need to connect your upper HiBeam LED to Pin2 (WHITE) - This wire is ONLY ON when the HiBeam switch is on HiBeam.

On the harness side of the connector (38A) the wires are a different color (so don't get confused):
Pin1 - BLUE/Black - to the BCM Pin-L4
Pin2 - BLUE/White - to the BCM Pin-M3
Pin3 - BLUE/Yellow - to the BCM Pin-M4
Pin4 - To the Harness Ground

As long as your current load of the LoBeam LED is not excessive, you should have no trouble as that line is designated for Fog Lights. Be aware that making this change means your headlight low beam will always be drawing current whenever the keyswitch is ON, which may be different than the way HD intended (as related to light modes for trouble situations - 4-way flashers, etc.)

you could also add a jumper in the bucket with a blocking diode so when lows are on, the high is blocked but when high is on, current flows to the lows.
