Default Crankcase sealant used by factory on 2003 sportster?

I am about to make an engine swap;just bought a 2003 883(those with centenary badge);sniffing under the bottom of engine I saw this sort of translucent soft silicon, like the one used on bathroom sinks...I was told by the seller it has only some 8k miles on it.Yes,for sure...untill some plumber stuck his claws in it...Or maybe this could be factory sealant?

I've owned an '03 aniversary XL883R. It was new and never taken apart. I do remember seeing that stuff. I also saw parts of this silicon on my '00 FXD Dyna Super Glide. I noticed it because in time a little came loose while cleaning the bike. What came loose was the excessive silicon that was pressed out when they put it together. I can't say of course that this is also the engine you have by factory doing or that it was put on later.

Thank you for your input, gentlemen. For me is important to find out if the engine has the factory condition.Otherwise have to return it;I was hunting for months for this, here in Europe. NLXL,you gave me hope...he-he!Today will have to fire it up.

Carefully inspect the fasteners. Often you can see that tools were used. Scratches and little damages on nuts and bolts on parts that were taken off and bolted on again. If the bike is still complete, look for wear on shifter pedal and footpegs. A low mileage bike will show just a little wear. At least less than a 25K miles bike.
Good luck lehel! Keep us informed!

THE STOCK CASE SEALANT IS GREY.
I had a heck of a time finding the stuff the manufacturer recommends and it wasn't grey either.

I have the same stuff on my 2000. I wouldn't worry about it.

NLXL,well it is only the engine.Hardware looks fine, but signs of corrosion are present all around-don t care too much about it...but instead of firing up, today I was damn busy to remove the belt pulley;the way it came out the nut, make me think that must be the factory set up...In the beginning have used the usual, softcore methods, but nothing...in the end became quite nasty...he-he

As I recall, I had some clear sealant on my 1991, and it was factory stock. I remember peeling off some that was sloughing off.
