It’s going to get warm again here this week.
I’ll be out sitting at my ground stand along the corn field in the morning and get in a couple of rides in the afternoon.
This is the first time in a very long time that the corn is still standing on opening day. I was out on my quad a couple of times yesterday and couldn’t believe how many doe I pushed out of the two larger fields.
Hopefully I’ll cull a couple animals before the end of the month.

I’ll be riding down here on the south shore. Lot of deer down here now but that wasn’t the case growing up. Earlier this summer I was riding through Brookfield MA and came around the corner in front of the state police barracks there was a black bear in the middle of the road. I swerved to avoid it and it doubled back toward me. Talk about a pants pisser…lot more wildlife everywhere it seems! Anyway, my Dad was an avid hunter (shotgun) in the 1970’s and I tried venison then but didn’t care for the taste but happy for you, and I’m in awe of anyone who can take wildlife with a bow!

Peripheral neuropathy and bad arthritis now makes me hunt with a crossbow. Just like a scoped gun but it shoots bolts not bullets. No more tree stands either.
A deer dropped in its tracks where you shot it always taste better than a bleeding wounded deer that you have to track. Adrenaline is what makes the gamey taste in the meat, and cooking it like cow meat also messes with the taste. There is no fat in venison unless you add some pork fat to your burger meat.
I’m in ‘awe’ of your wrenching skills for all the things you’ve done to that scooter of yours.
Going to be too warm today to go out.
Cheers.
