No. I’m going with a Man o War crank, h-beam rods and possibly Pro Edge/Drill Window to lighten it up; unless for some reason DH steers me away from those last two two mods.

This crank is not specifically for a Sportster, but it’s what their DH Man o War crank looks like. This one does not have the Pro Edge option done to it either.

I used Dawn Dishwashing Liquid and hot water to clean it and that made a considerable difference, but I still have to clean it again. I will probably use brake and parts cleaner next time to blast the other particles free and maybe follow that up with some kerosene. It makes me wonder how much sludge is in a typical Sportster oil tank? BTW, it was sort of a PITA to get the tank out of the bike (lots of screws, the battery and brackets that needed to be removed). My guess is that not many have flushed the oil tank on their Sportster. I don't think that I would have ever thought to do it if I hadn't experienced the #2 cam bushing failure.
dealer told me it was the most boring, but also tricky part of my rebuild...
my old man did things like that on some old cars... confirmed it was paramount to take your time when flushing...

what about the case?... you will fix it replacing the bushing or you are about to buy a new case?

price of the case for my ride was relatively low... not even 1k euro... think about 750... that of the flywheell assembly instead 1.7k... thanks God they cleared the way for a good will procedure and the expenses were split in half...

Sorry for the late reply Nibelungen, I hadn't looked at this thread for a few weeks. I just shipped the cases, crank and cams off to Darkhorse Crankworks today. I don't expect to get them back for a couple of months, as they're always busy. That's about how long it took the last time I used them. I should be good to go when I get them back though.

Here is what I told them I want to have done:

- Install Torrington cam bearings in the cases and cover (if this is a better option than just replacing the bronze bushings). If not, replace and line ream all cam bushings.

- Clearance cam box and pinion bearing for high lift cams.

- Install Timken bearing mod to left case.

- Install upgraded pinion bearing and other bearings in cases.

- Install Competition h-beam connecting rods, lighten, balance, Pro Edge, Drill Window, Pro Plug/weld and remove minor scratches from pinion journal on stock crank

- Install crank and seal cases.

- Install heavy duty cylinder/head studs in cases.

This explanation references twin cam cases, but Darkhorse said that they can perform this mod to my Sportster crank/cases as well. I figured; while the cases are being worked, I might as well make them better and stronger where possible.
