Correct
speaking for myself...
on alumn i prefer to check the torque...
obviously sensitiveness and brain connected...
i think the next time for drain plug i will use again the torque wrench setted to 15 ft/lbs...

i think also 30 ft/lbs is over the strip threshold

+1 The torque wrenches came out re-installing my rocker boxes and the cam chest cover that I understand is sensitive to pattern and torque. But my primary drain plug gets tightened "about that much" with teflon tape on the threads.

To be honest, i've never used the torque wrench on drain plugs etc, but i will check it tomorrow just a matter of interest.

Yes
Interesting to know how a muscle sensitiveness... led by experience... could be positioned... in the range of stated specs...

i myself (when had the wrench setted to 22 ft lbs)... stopped far before the expected "click"... since my sensitiveness told me that was enough...

then checked the torque applied with the wrench setted starting from 10 ft/lbs... and discovered it was 15 ft lbs...

I find it amazing that we're obsessing about drain plug torque instead of important things like how many HP a fresh coat of wax on your fuel tank adds.

My excuse is that's is raining with thunder and lightning so I'm not out riding.
