It lasts longer probably because it's formulated to work in running transmission under constant stress, added bonus is ATF is sold by the gallon.
Good info. Thanks. Since I plan to change my fork oil more often than recommended by the owner's manual (30K mile intrvals) because mine broke down apparently long before 10K miles, I will probably try the ATF.

Interesting fact: Ford car and light truck manual transmissions have been using ATF for decades with no problems and recommended change intervals of 30K. This speaks for itself. I have ATF in my 2002 F-150 5-speed manual right now.

Yeah ATF is a great fluid that stealerships & even shops hate.
I've been to bike shows where some socallled "experts" would go off on rants about its no good blah blah & I NEED to pay their shop for this $20 per baby bottle or my bike will disintegrate never realizing I'm a mechanic who's used ATF countless times lol
The ATF can withstand heavy pressures repeatedly as I've seen it take from motocross racing, usually when you make a change it seems to have the same viscosity as it did going in.
