You need to learn to properly set a carb. If you set the idle mix cold it will blacken the plugs.

The idle mix screw does not get set to a number, that is just to get it running.

You have to fully warm the motor, that means a hot oil tank, usually a 30 min ride, not around the block.

After you get it fully warmed up you turn the idle mix screw in until the bike misfires then back it out till it just smoothes out. Then set idle speed to no less than 900 and repeat tweaking the idle mix.

I usually set my hot idle higher so it will idle better cold.

NOTE: Prolonged idling at low speeds will ruin your pistons from lack of oil, the pistons are splash lubed and need 900 rpm MINIMUM.

NOTE: Do not tune for best response free reving. You will wind up too rich and blacken plugs.

TIP: a propane torch can be used to burn off the carbon deposits and restore a fouled plug.

RE: plug gap, you will not be able to run a large plug gap unless you have a 3 ohm coil and an ignition module capable of driving it. (points coil is 5 ohms)

TIP: S&S idle mix screw is very sensitive, 1/8 turn is a big adjustment

TIP: Set idle correctly and low speed jet first before going after main jet. A very high percentage of fuel is supplied by the idle/low speed circuit, changes there affect all modes of operation.

Well S&S recommends the main jet to be between .062 and .070 for the Super B.
So you are at the rich end of the range. Drop it down some.
Now the Super B does not have an accelerator pump so many jet rich to lessen the low speed stumble.

I think if it was a fuel problem both plugs would be fouling.
