Another thing you have to watch for is how many microns the oil filter flows. This is why a lot of guys, in the independent bike shops, do not recommend using car oil filters on Harleys anymore. The newer car filters flow a smaller size micron and this causes the oil to back up in the filter (i.e..restrict) on a Harley. And yes, I've seen blue AC delco filters on big twins and Sportsters. I know, too, that Drag Spec. sells a 12 micron and a 10 Micron filter that will fit a Sportster. The 12 micron is standard, I think the 10 micron is more for a V-Rod. Car filters are running about 16-22 microns now with 0W20 oil.
WARNING: things posted in this post may be confusing and downright outlandish, but there is no fear of epileptic fits. Proceed with caution, to the next post.

This is a nice filter and with the special bypass valve, ought to work just fine.

Is that check ball made of plastic or composite? It doesn't look like metal from your picture.

'89 883. I recently replaced the original spring and check ball with new spring and new style ball hoping for an easy and cheap fix for parked wet sumping. It did not make any improvement. Parked, the oil tank drains down about 75% in two weeks.

been reading this thread, not sure if your talking about. Parked wet sumping, or wet sumping while motor is runing.
I ride more than park ( when bike is runing ).
so here is my take. back in the 1990's when Harley sponsored the Roaring Sporty's or twin sport, road race class here in Australia & some of our racer's came over USA to race the class at Daytona. these were 5 speed rigid sporty's. they were raving to 8,000 & that ran pistons with loose fit in the bore. one race and all the oil would go from oil tank out the breather. some made huge catch tank under the bike. so one race, oil goes from oil tank into catch can that was same size as oil tank & had a drain plug.
so I think the large scavenge smaller feed of the 07 up would or could have helped. but if you have a broken piston ring or a cracked piston or very loose fit piston to cylinder. you would still get wet sumping , riding hard.
