nascar7613 is an unknown quantity at this point
Default engine backfires and sputters

2005 883 backfires and sputters after riding about five miles, runs good up until then. Took the carb apart, clean as it can be, thought it might be the pilot jet partially clogged, but it's not. It is throwing codes P0374, crank sensor, P0501 & 502, vss, P0562, low voltage, and U1097, speedo data. Unplugged the ignition module, the plug was very clean, no backed out pins. Seems like the ignition module is the common component to the crank sensor and speedometer circuit. Just checking to see if anybody here has experienced similar symptoms and what it turned out to be.

1st and foremost. How old is your battery? Check battery voltage for proper charge level. 12.8 volts. Use of a tender while sitting/not riding/parked for an extended time frame? check all battery connections, positive, negative, corrosion etc. ground stud by rear of starter for tightness in case. remove and clean. use a quality dielectric grease on threaded portion when re-installing said ground post. p0374 is CKP I believe. Take it out and clean the magnetic end off of any debris. start there and get back for anymore advice. good luck

YEP - The Sportsterpedia has a section about Battery Connections & Grounds:
http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...place_to_start

A bad ground will create havoc with the system. Be sure to check the Powertrain Ground Point (harness grounds) and the Battery Ground Point on the Crankcase near the starter.

Some will move the battery over to the stud on the backside of the primary (at the top).

Also, don't overlook cleaning up your fuses/relay tray.
