I discovered after I,d removed a barrel that one of my fins has been broken and welded back on some time in the past.
It was tack welded at the ends and spot welded in a few other places.
Then they,d ground the end welds to match and you couldn't tell once installed.
It survived blast cleaning !
That method would avoid too much heat and possible warping and I,d get it fixed purely on visual grounds - otherwise every time you look at it, it will P**S YOU OFF !!
