Ironically, the name of this van came from one in the 60's that was bulletproof. While I was in high school, I drove one for a grocery store to deliver anything from one pound of groceries to 500 pounds of cattle feed out in the boonies. It was basically a Ford falcon in a box with 1 "straight-6" and no amenities at all, not even windows other than the windshield and windows in the two front doors. It was driven by several crazed teenagers for hundreds of thousands of miles on unchanged oil for years with bald tires and drum brakes in extreme heat and cold. It was an ugly, horrible beast that refused to die and I don't remember a single mechanical or electrical repair ever being done to it. The last time I saw it, is was still in service and looked like it had been in several "demolition derbies". Looking back, it would have made a perfect college vehicle for me. Instead, I chose an MG....really?

I got a Montego hire car through work for a trip to London. They were indeed a crock of shite. The one I got was 6 months old the. Drivers window fell inside the door making for a draughty ride home.

80s GM stuff was a bit flaky but cheap to fix (except transmissions)

Had a 70 Ford Pick Up. Real rust bucket! Driving on the highway one day, the drivers window fell out of it's track and straight out of the rusted bottom of the door, where it exploded into a million pieces!

There had been a guy tailgating me at the time. After the shower of glass marbles peppered his car, he backed WAY off!

My dad bought a Austin Maxi automatic once, and the auto box failed. We took it to a specialist who said a Rolls-Royce box was cheaper to fix. What a pile of crap that was...........
