The real idiots are the ones that hired him as CEO. Here we can adapt Forrest Gump's "Stupid is as ..."

He will last long enough to make a huge bonus.

Fear not, the Sportster will live on. Apparently the new CEO has plans to introduce the new Sportster, a glorified tennis shoe, through the Parts and Accessories catalogue, eh?

Didn't see any comments by the Harley CEO.

There's some really harsh (unpleasant personal stuff) here. I am a keen Sportster and Harley fan - I have a YouTube channel celebrating just that. Mr. Zeitz knows his onions and I for one am relaxed and confident about Harley-Davidson's future under his authority.

Morning Cmd - can you pass on a link to this podcast? It'd be very interesting (and useful for people who, maybe, have a YouTube channel...). It's nice that Mr. Zeitz had a Sportster back in the day, but calling it a 'wannabe' bike is, as you say, somewhat insulting. I'd like to hear what he said in context though.

I disagree completely IXL! My videos explain why, but suffice is it to say that Harley have been working on a new Milwaukee-Eight engine for two or three years now and it is different enough from existing M8s to be in a different 'class' (so to speak): for instance, since it's higher revving, we might glean from that that the engine will be smaller. Oh, I don't know, perhaps for a new Milwaukee-Eight Sportster. Oh, yes it will! (With new chassis as well: gasp!) Anyway, watch my vids...

Fair point there Max. If we (as riders and customers) can spend over half a century buying Harley Sportsters, if they were to disappear, then we'd buy them from someone else. (I'd love to be a gazzilionaire and buy the Evo rights just so I could continue making the current Sportster. Not to say I don't want an M8 Sportster, 'cos I do!)

Gentlemen, you are all so pessimistic and gloomy: have faith boys! (I say that seeing as there are no girls here yet.) As I've said many times, "The new Sportster is coming, and it will be a Milwaukee-Eight bike: engine and frame!"

Cheers,

Chris

Good point Ten - and Harley have been doing just that. And, dare I say it, they will continue to do it. Just like Triumph.

Cheers,

Chriis
