It's not how much hp you make that causes the wheels to spread. it is how many rpms you are turning. At 130 mph you probabaly were not even turning 6,000 rpms and you could have done it with 70 hp. With 140 hp you should be going at least 165 mph so I am expecting you to really step it up this year.

i could be wrong but seems you are still at risk of twisting with this method.

??

lol. i WAS running 7k 160+ in bonneville. on pump gas. on the deserted access road the week between BUB and WOS. BUB was a ID-10T error: sticky BOV and not knowing enough to recognize it, WOS was also an ID-10T error: going from 160+ on pump gas to 110k and trying to tune to it on the fly, on the runs.

not going to make THOSE mistakes again. Can't wait to see what I screw up this year.

Crank was twisted. .002 pinion side, .018 primary. i think i showed pics somewhere of the stator that had been ground down and shorted out by the tilted rotor.

a suitcase of coors light greased the rails right onto Crank Works bench to check my cranks.

luckily the stock ebay crank is within .003 both sides. but i am pretty sure i don't want to put another crank in cases that have seen that kind of abuse.

i really think that i am the luckiest guy on earth. something tells me that is catastrophic failure territory.

glad i have another engine.

p.s. this is the correct tool to pull a pinion gear. using jam bars is an express ticket to a fubar pinion gear. don't ask me how i know.

Um, how does it go back together?
Seems it'd have to be braced and shimmed to keep from tweaking.
Never done it myself...
