Thanks. Yes I suspect that at certain rpms, this rigid mount will become blurred

I look forward to following your progress Jorgen. The last combination you put together was amazing. I don't even know how to begin to describe this one. I think serious is a good start. steve

Thanks everyone!
This week the engine has been mocked up for the frame modification and the frame has been stripped from the old powder coating.
The 8" Carrillo rods has also arrived. They look really nice, especially the big end of the fork rod. But sad to say, I forgot to take a pic of the rods.
Charley Karling has also designed the pistons and sent the drawing to JE Pistons for fabrication. After consideration, we have desided to stick with the existing combustion chamber, since its a quite nice design (See pic in 1:st post). In other words, the pistons will look very much like the S&S 4.8" bore Pro-Stock pistons, dome piston with a flat shelf around the perimeter. There are many advantages with this design, for example in terms of unshrouding the valves, valve pockets, easy squish adjustment and so on.

Next week UCC will start working with the frame modifications, using the mocked up engine.

Still having a hard time wrapping my head around the idea of a 124" sportster engine. Great stuff!! I'm still following!

Jørgen, are you going to beef up or change the swing arm mount on the frame?

It is a weak point I have heard.

I have also thought about that area. We will beef up the steering head. But I'm a bit uncertain what can be done in order to reinforce the swing arm mount and where the weakness is. If it is weak at all?

I have heard that it can break in racing when using a stiffer rear fork but I can't remember the source.

Some kind of support between the frame and the end(s) of the pivot axle maybe would do it.

I wonder if Dan or AAron beef up their frames for Bonneville. Not sure that is necessary. How much HP are you expecting to have?
