Default Show your tank decals

I looked thru a gigantic history of HD book I have today for the history of the tank decals and emblems on the Sportser. I became curious since there is a particular decal in my mind that I cant find, or even find a picture of and I was wondering if it was a factory thing or a aftermarket thing.

I also spent a bit of time on the Everything Sportsters section of ChopCult looking at a sticky titled something like Pictures of your Sporty, any style. I enjoyed it a good bit, around 350 pages worth but remembered I hate photobucket in the process. Did a search here and found a short thread about the subject from 2012 or so, but like I said it was short and then the pb deal.

The decal I was speaking of was a wings up eagle with the old syle HD logo at his feet. Probably 70's era I would think.

Now you can guess what I want. Show a picture of your bike with the side of the tank visible. Tell me if you think, or know that your emblem is correct to the bike or custom. It is my hope that all of the factory ones will be represented from 57-present and verified accurate. Then it may be a good addition to the Sportsterpedia.( I did look there too)

Come on XLF, lets see em..

Here is BB. 2006 1200l from the factory. I believe it has the correct tank emblem for the 06 with the 4.5 tank

I used to have this one on my bike. The decal is from the 1996 Sportster Sport. Still have the tank (hanging on the wall), but I swapped it out for a correct XLX tank a number of years ago.

Here's the 1983 XLX-61 tank decal...

If it ain't broke, don't fix it (especially if you don't know what you're doing). Most Sportster problems are owner-induced.
