Default Rush slip ons = junk!

For two years I’ve had the rush slip ons on my 2013 883. When I bought them I went with the 2.25” baffle. After 2 years and about 10,000 miles I decided to try the 1.75” baffle to see what it sounded like. New baffles came in today and tried to put them on. When I tried to remove the old baffles, I was able to pull them out about 2 inches and then they both felt stuck inside. I looked inside the mufflers and saw the baffle packing material had come apart and wedged between the muffler shell and the baffle. Needless to say these mufflers are shot! Ordered the Vance and Hines straight shot slip ons and can’t wait for them to come in. DO NOT BUY RUSH SLIP ONS! The sound is ok but definitely not throaty like Vance and Hines pipes are.

I appreciate the update. I always wanted the Rush slip-ons and just as I was about to order them I decided last minute to go with my second choice, the Firebrand Rip-rods. You are right tough, they do sound very nice. The rip-rods are just loud but in a good way. Veeflys

Yup depending on what sound u are looking for they are ok. The quality of the rush slip ons just isn’t there. The mounting and alignment could be better but I just dealt with it. I bought the rush slip ons becuz u have the option of getting three different baffle sizes. It’s a good thing u didn’t buy them becuz later on down the road u would probably be dealing with the same thing I am lol and if u haven’t done so yet, buy a tuner so ur engine runs better and not so lien.

They sell the packing to replace the old deteriorated packing. I ran them for a few thousand miles with out any problems.

I pulled the quiet baffles out of my Straight Shots on the weekend, the sound deadening had also deteriorated. Had a look, half the packing had gone and what was left crumbled apart in my hands. One baffle came out easy, the other wedged in a little.
Not really surprised, should probably something I do more often.
After I modify the end caps to open it up, I'll re pack it new stuff.

Rush slip ons make about the best power you can get from slip on.

Any packed baffle needs to and should be repacked as a maintenance item. I do the dirt bike pipes and the gf's slip on once a year. You don't do 10k on a fiberglass packed baffle then blame the manufacturer for the packing coming apart.

Welcome to glass packed mufflers. Good luck finding glass packs with lifetime packing.

I have had my Rush slipons for about 3 years and 14K and looked at them this morning after reading your post and the packing looks fine and in position (but I didn't remove the baffle). I have the 2" baffle and I think the sound is great (throaty but not too loud).

Did you contact Rush customer service? I have communicated with them a couple of times and found them to be very responsive and helpful. They may have been able to help you through the problem before you went to the expense of replacement.

Personally I would recommend their product, as I feel they are well made and perform to my expectations. Sorry to hear you had such a poor experience.

Default rush slip-ons

My Rush slip-ons were too loud for my liking. I installed eyebolts with fender washers on each side to tone them down. I used the hole that holds the baffle for the eyebolt.

Yep, I even burned out ceramic packing. I wrapped my baffles with exhaust pipe wrap. It sounds the same as fiberglass or ceramic and has lasted the longest.
