I bought a new instrument.



Features:
Tachometer
RPM shift light
Speedometer
Odometer
Trip meter
Engine Temperature
Fuel level (requires installing a sending unit in the gas tank)
Clock

Gear position
Indicator lights
· Fuel (Yellow)
· Engine (Orange)
· Battery (Red)
· Anti theft (Red)
· Cruise control (Green)
· ABS (Red)

I bought this because I wanted to know the engine temp plus there are several other perks. The black bezel doesn't blind me when the sun shines on the meter. It is quicker for me to read the speed from digits. I like the analog tachometer better. Plus it comes with a volt meter.

Installation is easy,
remove the two screws on the bottom plate. Carefully remove the rubber gasket so it does not rip. Disconnect the cable, be careful of the little tabs as they are only plastic. Now you should be able to push the bottom of the old instrument against the mounting frame to break the seal around the top and carefully remove the old.

Reassemble in reverse order. The Harley manual says to use window cleaner to install. I used a little silicone spray only on the meter sides since it is not harmful to electronics or plastic or rubber and does not dry out. I suppose the danger here is it could rotate, no problems yet and I hope not. On the screws I used a little blue Loctite.

My thoughts,
This is a plug and play instrument. Everything works! I am very pleased with this instrument. I would like the digits to be a little clearer in direct sunlight (I have it set to max brightness and need to play around with different colors to see if that helps.) however it is acceptable and my eyes are getting old.

I would buy again knowing what I know now.

Edit, the low fuel level light also works with the standard sensor.
Edit2, I believe Koso is from Taiwan.

I have there tnt-01 model and love it also. Great unit. The hardest part for me was calibrating the speed.

I think I set mind to 96%, although it will be different with different tires and sizes.

It helps that I now have a Garmin Zumo XT that shows the speed. I need to add my thoughts about the Garmin in another post. Short story I would buy the Garmin again too.

Just an fyi for anyone looking at the 2014+ instructions. The diagram in the 2014+ installation instructions is incorrect. They are using a pre-2014 diagram which has a switch on the back plate rather than on the handlebar. This caused me some confusion before I bought the meter as I didn't fully trust it was plug and play however it is.

On my model I have 2 numbers that get me my speed. There is a tire size number and a revolution number that reads how many times the speed sensor picks up a signal. When mine was first installed it was telling me I was doing 60 mph when I was doing about 20. I also used my Garmin zumo as my mark to get my speedo to. After a few number changes I have it to wear my gps and speedo will tell me the same speed but when I accelerate my speedo takes about a second longer than my Gps to increase the numbers but when I get to a steady speed they both say the same speed. I even have checked it with the police signs that tell you your speed and it usually reads the same number.
It is a great guage. I have had mine through some good storms and it doesn't miss a beat. When I had my Dakota digital I had to send it back to the company 5 times for repair.

This one has a percentage, adjustable in 1% increments, worked great.

Also, Koso's are from Taiwan, not China.

Wow, that's a really cool little device. Too bad my old 1991 has such primitive electrics, I like the looks of that gauge. Still, primitive has its advantages.
