I think the ear clamps are self regulating in how tight they will become. They will protect the fitter from himself when fitting the hoses to the plastic oil tank. I can imagine a heavy handed person not feeling any resistance as the plastic gets crushed.

Very little pressure in the oil system unlike water pipes.

Yes, the pinch clamps are easier to use and harder to screw up.

We just were not comfortable with how tight they held the hose.

Plus we could not locate any that were black in the size we needed. But, even if we had, we would not run them on our bikes, not quite tight enough to be comfortable with them.

We do not sell anything that we will not run on our own bikes.

If a person has good enough vision to ride, they have good enough vision to use the time tested & proven worm clamps, and get them to the correct tightness.

Using the wrong sized ear clamp or the wrong tool to compress them will obviously lead to poor results.

The ones here on a 2008 have been doing their job as designed.

I have also seen plenty of high pressure hoses that use ear clamps on the couplings.

It maybe you just didn't get yours on quite right. That is fine you do what you have to do.
