Default newer rear fender on older sportster

Have to opportunity to purchase a newer rear shorter rear fender off a later model sportster (believe it was on a 48) and id like to put it on my 1998 sportster....anyone know if there will be fittment issues? Thanks in advance for your input.

Yes there will be fitment issues, since the rubbermount rear fenders are wider than the solidmount ones.

I don't know how much wider, because I don't know how wide a solidmount fender is. However, the rubbermount fender is about 8¼" wide, maybe a bit more. That won't fit between your fender supports, will it?

They're wider because the rubbermounts have wider rear tyres: 150mm wide instead of 130mm.

Measure the distance between your fender struts and this will tell you how wide of a fender will fit on your bike. How deep will be determined by the size of rim/tire you run.
