81 parts
What is up with the lack of 81 parts? Is there any other years that the 81 is interchangeable with?

Depends on what parts.
79 was a frame and rear brake change (along with supporting hardware)
80 moved the rear MC
81 had the new starter
84 was the next major change with the clutch and alternator.

Hi,
I have had my 81 for 20 year's, never had a problem getting any part. Yesterday did a sweet deal on 10 primary gaskets & 12 generator brushes.
Andy.

Andy, where do you source most of your parts from?

Easily 99% of what I need I get from ebay. If I can't find what I want there I just trawl the internet.
Having the parts manual is a huge help. Searching using the correct part number is a big help & it ensures you are getting the correct part & not wasting money on the wrong bit.
One thing I do where I can is change the imperial fasteners for metric, they are cheaper & easier to find. I'm quite happy to re tap threads to metric. I don't have time for those who have to have every nut, bolt & washer correct period, life's too short for that crap.
Like everything in life, it just takes time & effort.

I get a lot of stuff on B-BAY also. Checkout J&P Cycles.com, click on their vintage catalogue, they will send you one for free.
