One thing that hasn't been mentioned about chain wear. Drive chains are typically lubed too
infrequently. I seem to recall DID recommending lubrication every 300 miles; most people don't.
Personally, I use a chain oiler, which is a lot less hassle and chains last much longer.

Ok thanks. I was wondering about if the 46tooth is a bigger circumference.
Must have had a brain fart.

Thanks Iron Mike, I thought so. And even more regularly in the wet!
(Sorry, it has been years since I lubed the drive chain that way.
I just refill my chain oiler every couple of months; job done. Not
had to touch the chain since fitting it and sprockets look like new).
