See how much room silliness takes up?
Now imagine how big this picture would be by listing all the noises on a Sportster....
This page about noises in the Sportsterpedia is already huge but still scantily clad.

Obviously it is the same design as others that don't have that noise so it may just me.
What did you upgrade it to? Different part number than the blue Drag Specialties offering?

H.D. Brought out an upgraded part, the steel shoe supporting the nylon wear bar was thicker gage metal. Of course I could be wrong.

Because at the time I was doing my conversion, I was given the information about it, looked into it and found it beefier.
So I figured, why not.
My old once did have a good bit of wear.
If you think about, it's just (nylon or some other type) plastic.
That metal chain will always win that battle.

So now that parts have shown up I can carry on with re-Assembly to some extent.
I’ll also be incorporating some 3 pin waterproof connectors that have a 3 amp capacity; more than enough for what I’m working with.

I’ve also had the primary gasket, base and head gaskets, new lifters and copper exhaust gaskets show up so i’ll Make some progress with that while the seat is getting finished.

I use dialectic grease for waterproofing connectors.
(had a shutdown in pouring rain on the highway and have used dialectic grease ever since)

I agree completely if the connector isn’t designed to seal out water. I do use a dab around starter terminals that are exposed to oxidation, corrosion moisture and contamination. Every substance on earth that I can recall has an atomic level of charge so I like to give it all a fighting chance.

I’ll be adding in a brake switch up front this time around seeing as how I have the harness exposed.
Not really a big deal to add it in; just switch wire and a ground.

What I want to know is if I should siphon out the brake reservoir so that I minimize the mess while swapping the banjo bolts?
Does that one answer itself?

2005 uses DOT 5 so it's just a mess (no paint stripping involved).
But yes, it does.
