Mike the LED head light is superior to the old antiquated seal beam in every way. The LED requires far less energy to operate and will outlast the seal beam many times over. A big plus for the LED on an HD is resistance to vibration. I have literally lost seal beams do to vibration in days.

I've gone through a couple headlights during not alot of miles, but I've attributed that to maybe the fact that its a hardtail and bounces around. This may or may not be the case.

Has anyone used an LED headlight replacement for their ironhead? And how did it work?

Your issue with charging, if you have the stock mechanical voltage regulator, is attributed to that. My original reg fried my generator, so I replaced it with a solid state unit and no more problems.

Kelvin is a measurement of how white your light is, nothing to do with power. Take a 5 watts 2000 Kelvin and a 5 watts 5000 Kelvin, the only difference is the color of the light.

LEDs = Hell Yes!!!

Convert the whole bike to LEDs and you might have enough juice for a heated vest.

The days are getting shorter.....
