If it is in single fire mode one of the cylinders could quit.

If it is in dual fire mode then, No I wouldn't expect so.

I'm not convinced it's the ignition module, with the front cylinder working.

Hopefully I'll get to the bottom of whatever it is over this weekend, & hopefully it won't run into hundreds of pounds to fix it.

Thank you,

Andy.

Checked the rods, all spot on.

As I couldn't swap over the HT leads, as suggested by one person, I swapped over the spark plugs to see what would happen.

The front cylinder behaved just as the rear was, popping & backfiring, so I put in another new plug & hey presto engine ran great, I took it out for a short ride, no more problems.

Could it really be that simple of a fix, just 2 faulty plugs. Let's hope so.

Thank you all for the help,

Andy.

you say you have dual fire ignition.you also say you couldn't switch the plug wire from front to rear, with single fire that's a given but with dual fire?? that's a simple way to find your problem.

The HT lead on the front cylinder is cut to size, it wont reach the plug on the rear.

Sounds like a win.
And how easy was that?
Like the guys said: Check the simple things first. Plugs. Plug wires. Coil. Etc.
I’ve had this happen as well.

The bike has had spark plugs go bad before but it has never caused this problem, just happy it was a simple fix, that doesn't happen often, I'll take that win.

Doesn't hurt to carry some spare plugs.
