Had some pics from mounting the tank that I thought I'd share. I had the original sportster tank sandblasted to repainting, but I now I like the raw look so it will stay as it is for now. The tank seemed to fit well with the lines of the new frame and front end. Just needed to figure out the best way to get it mounted.

Picked up some 3/8-16 coped bungs from bungking.com. Marked the placement, then drilled 3/8" holes in the frame to ensure the mounting screws don't bottom out.

Secured the bungs to the frame by putting in a 1/4" through bolt and cinching it down on both sides. This way I knew both bungs were aligned to each other. Tacked them down with the mig then finished welding all the way around.

The threads in the bungs were a little rough but after tapping them out they were fine.

You can clearly see I'm a novice with the mig but it looks like it will be solid and it sure is fun doing your own work.

Repeat for the rear mounts.

Looks okay?

Paughco springers are great and they go on without too much of a hassle. The long front end will look good, but as far as riding one, you can have it. I don't want any more bikes that won'r turn around on a 2 lane road.

I guess you are aware the springer is a straight across mount and it won't turn unless you move the tank back about 3 inches.
