Looks like piping might be different...
The 2010 and later tank has the oil return is above the feed and drain lines-





On the earlier tank the oil return line was on the bottom left side (when installed) of the tank-

From what I have read, this plastic is rather like central heating fuel oil tanks or plastic boats, Nothing I have heard of sticks/ melts adheres to it.
