05 sportster custom and bassani road rage
Hey guys, first post. I have an 05 sportster custom, and I just swapped to mid controls. Currently looking at getting a bassani exhaust from the road rage series... only problem I’m seeing is that some of the websites are saying they won’t fit with 15” shocks. Does that seem right?

Do you have 15" shocks? Don't such long shocks have issues with the belt rubbing on something?

15" shocks are long enough you will probably have to run an idler pulley to prevent contact between the final drive and the swingarm and cases.
Are you looking at running 15s out back?

I didn't even think you could do 14" without issues with the rear brake parts on an 04-13 bike.

Honestly I have no idea, all I saw online in the fitment notes was that the exhaust doesn’t fit with a bike with 15” shocks. I’m not looking to change shocks or anything, I was just wondering what they meant by that. Let me see if I can find a link

Stock on the Roadsters, which have longer shocks than your Custom (in OE trim) are only 13.25" or so. If they're stock, you're not even close. If they're aftermarket and longer, they're probably 13" unless they're Burly's big 15" shocks. That, or they were made for an XR. Regardless, it's pretty unlikely you have 15" shocks and don't know they're super long.
Just go measure the shocks, eye to eye. That's the 15" they're referring to. They'll be slightly compressed under the weight of the bike, but they won't shrink 2" or anything on you. You're likely a decent bit short of 15"

Stock shocks on your bike are 11¾".
