The different hole patterns will change the mixture curve and may require different main jets / needle / needle height. It's a "what works best" thing.

That could be a Dynojet Kit - See this link:
http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...t_dynojet_kits

Quote:
To check for DynoJet parts, look at these 4 things:

Check the Needle: Stock is Nail-shaped - DJ has grooves & a clip
Check the Diaphragm/Slide Spring: Stock is 6.0“ - DJ is 5.75”
Check the Slide Vacuum Port Hole (not the center hole): Stock is .097“ - DJ is .136” (Is the hole smaller or larger than 7/64“ drill bit?)
Check the Main Emulsion Tube : Stock has 2x2Hi+4x3Lo Emulsion Holes - DJ uses only 2Lo Holes

The stock Keihin Emulsion Tube uses 6mm-threaded Main Jets - The DJ one takes only 5mm-threaded jets, which are incompatible with the Keihin tube and only available from DJ

It's easy to identify a DynoJet emulsion tube, a Keihin main jet won't screw in.

it runs! and runs good.had to turn the idle up a bit.there were 2 casualties.i noticed rust on the return cable for the throttle and as soon as i pulled it around the bracket the last 6'' broke off,and apparently i over tightened the nut for the enrichener the plastic piece broke.tomorrow i'll put the seat back on and ride it.had to get away from the exhaust fumes today.too cold anyway high of 40 something.i saw snow flurries when i left work at 11:00.

In some places 40F seems almost tropical, just saying!

The longer the winter, the lower the standards for a 'good' riding day!

Was able to ride the entire winter, a mild on here by most standards, seldom below zero. Been off the bike chasing electric gremlins and going through DT’s just now. Our illustrious Governor has seen fit to tell us to leave our bikes at home, no fishing from powered boats and no visiting. WTH? Don’t tell her I’m at my youngest boys house for holiday dinner, oh and also doing laundry. Keep it safe out there everyone and may your day be blessed!
