EFI is easy on these bikes, not sure what people are so worried about. Few inputs, bit of maths, few outputs.
Had a fault on my bike a while ago. Ran alright, but not perfect. Idled really poorly. Chucked my computer on it, no codes. Ran a datalogger on it, hunting rear cylinder and really low CLI. Leaking injector. Replaced it, job done.
Northshore, curious as to why you didn't follow the code first. ET sensor fault, but chased other things. Engine Temp has a big factor in most sections of the tune file.

Since I purchased the bike about 70 miles ago I don't know how long the code has been there. I checked the resistance on the sensor, heated up the head with a heat gun and the resistance goes down and as it cooled it went back up. I cleared the code, ran it for several miles and no more codes, but still ran bad. I pulled the fuel pump/filter unit, filter was very black. I changed it and it runs much better but still misses after also cleaning the sensors on the induction module. As a last resort I have two injectors on order and hope that will correct the problem. I ran about 35 miles yesterday and still no codes but occasional periods of missing and bucking. I don't know how long the previous owner left the bike dormant with untreated fuel.

I bought my first EFI Sporty last year and have a couple concerns.

It's been sitting for 6 months - had snow again this week. On my carb bikes, I would shut off the petcock and let the bowl run dry after having added stabilizer. Never had a problem. I'm not sure what to expect when I finally get to start it up again.
I'm thinking the injector nozzle holes must be really small and easy to gum up when sitting with crap fuel for months.

Another concern, like what the OP was saying, is how primitive EFI systems are.
Seems to me, when you change something on the bike, displacement, intake/exhaust, etc., the module should have enough programmed into it to account for the changes.
No such luck - primitive indeed.

Maybe they'll get it sorted by the time there is no more fuel available.

Put a quality fuel treatment in it and you have nothing to worry about..I use Star Tron in all of my bikes ..put it in the tank, run it for a few miles to get it through the injectors and store the bike worry free.
