Default 09 XL1200C makeover

This is only a mini project because the bike is like new still and I don't want to go nuts. Just a refresh to make it a little more "sporty". All original parts are going on a shelf and making this reversible.

I'm thinking just a single stage gloss black on all the new tins, then maybe black or orange plastidip to temporarily spice it up.

Grabbed a cheap rear fender to trim and clean up.

10" bars

New top clamp that accepts my idiot lights. I want a 2" or so tank lift so the C riser has to go.

Autometer 3-3/8 gauge housing. (hope this works)

3.3 gal tank. The 4.5 is kind of ugly imo.

I'm using the same top clamp. It's off an older model and accepts the incandescent light assembly rather than having to upgrade to the led version which is longer and narrower. The speedo is a separate bracket and sits further forward and lower so as not to stick up between the bars.

I might end up with that style speedo bracket all said and done but right I'm leaning towards mounting the Autometer housing off the tank bolt.

Decided all the chrome is too much for me. Today I put some Whiplash shorty levers on in black. Then ordered a bunch of black stuff to break up the chrome.

I am going a different route to liven up my 95 XLH 883 DLX. I am going with a 3.5 gallon split tank from a 94 Fatboy. Most of the parts came in today. Just waiting on the 2 inch lifts to finish mount fabrication.

before tank upgrade

current mod in progress
