But I would love to try the 570 cams . Do you guys think it could work? If it doesn’t work then what else would need to be done to my heads ? Would it cost a lot to rework the heads in order to run 570 cams? Is there that much clearence difference between the n4 and 570 that would push it to far or are they close clearence wise ? Thank you for any help you can offer . And I hope I’m not out of line asking for help in this thread.
The 570 cams have TDC lift figures that are too high for stock 883 heads. If used with stock 883 heads, they'd likely cause valve to piston contact. They work fine with stock 1200 heads, but not stock 883 heads.

But will they fit with ported heads? It depends entirely on the head work. There's really no way to know for sure without making the measurements, but let me shed some light on the issues.

If the head porter sank the valves in their seats as part of the valve job, well, that moved the valves farther from the piston and also farther from each other, and he may well have gained the clearance you'd need to run the 570's.

But sinking the valves is not without side effects. The main problem is that it increases chamber volumes, which in turn decreases compression.

So now you have to deck the heads to get the chamber volumes back down and the compression ratio back up. Well guess what, decking the heads has it's own set of side effects, not the least of which is that it moves the valves closer to the pistons again. You just end up chasing your tail.

This is precisely why we tell people, who have basic conversions, that if you want to put in high overlap cams then you need new pistons. If we change the pistons, we can add more dome, which then gets our compression back without excessive head decking. Now you can sink valves, gainin the clearance you need for high overlap cams, and still have the proper compression.

Watch this video, we explain it all:

Converting an 883 for BIG Power!

Bottom line is that cams, head work, and pistons need to be a matched set. You can't move any of those three very far without bringing the other two along.

Also watch this video, we explain how to match compression ratio to cam timing, which is another thing that needs to be matched:

Matching Compression Ratio and Cam Timing

This is exactly why I’m happy I bought your products . Thank you for the quick response. I’m very happy with my 1275 kid and the way the bike runs right now. Eventually I will upgrade again down the road the question will be if I want to stick with the heads I have and send them to you guys or go with 1200 head. But I guess I have time to think about it it’ll be a while before I move up. I was just wondering if I could go with the campus now. Thank you for the great explanation as always it’s appreciated greatly.
