No, your defiantly wrong there Hippy. Take that back or I'll smack ya !

(Just kiddin' - I don't deal in smack anymore)

What I do wish we had was a parts database. I have started on one a couple of times, but it's bigger than me.

With a database you could do a BOM of assemblies or complete bikes even. You could search and find where all 3045's are used. You could easily determine if a -58 part will fit your bike. (It doesn't. They changed the mount points in 62.)

Hahahaha

That's a huge undertaking for a database.
I've been hacking at it for what... 6 years now and I don't think I've scratched the surface.
One problem is the %^$# parts books that can't be trusted.

I've been trying to gather tables of parts that were used "from-to" but not all the parts for 1 year alone.

But you can always use the search button in Sportsterpedia. It works good.
Just type a word or part number in the search box.
If it's been posted yet, it'll show up.

Yeah, this is why I asked about the "I paid for mine, now you'll pay for it too" mentality. I don't mind paying for stuff, but it seems like every other make has their parts and service manuals widely accessible. In a day and age where the dealership doesn't need to keep a dozen paper copies to sell, it just seems unnecessary to not have digital copies. I keep a laptop in the shop and view my manuals there, so I free up a lot of shelf space that would be filled with paper copies by keeping them digitally. And hell, I'm in a single car garage so space is at a premium. But if someone wants to make money off them then go ahead, that's capitalism baby.

It is against XLForum policy to advertise sources for "free" or "pdf" versions of the manuals. They are copyrighted so it is illegal, regardless of whether these copyrights are enforced or not.
Makes all the sense in the world, thanks for letting me know Mick. Got to keep the forum going.

Thanks RKN, I somehow missed this on the kmodel site. I was literally just using it for help ID my bike, too.

Sorry, I thought 1958 XLCH was hovering over there by my username on the post. I've fixed it now, thanks.

Sorry but life got in the way of getting back in to say thanks to the folks who actually answered the question. I appreciate it guys.
