Default Roadster (XL1200CX) inverted forks on 2003 Sportsters?

I've been looking to upgrade the front-end of my 2003 solid-mount Sportster and mostly looking at GSXR options, but just realized that maybe the new Roadster would be an easier swap? Anyone have any insight into this?

More than likely you will have to swap out the whole front end. Triple trees, brakes, wheel, and fender to say the least.

Yup, that's what I'm thinking. My hope is that the front end would at least mount up to the frame easier than the GSXR front end (which needs a solution like Cognito's custom triples)

Also FYI- the front forks on some GSXRs cannot be re-bushed; therefore they are unrebuildable. 2007s are like this, I used to ride one. Stay away from KYB forks. Showas are fine.

Thanks, that's good to know. I'm also looking into XR1200 swaps. Does anyone know how easy that is to bolt onto a frame-mount?

Can't help with that, sorry.

I just knew about the GSXR thing because I used to own one.

I blew a fork seal and didn't fix it right away, since I always put new bushings in when I do fork seals. Neither Suzuki nor Race Tech sold bushings for it, so I just put new seals in. They didn't even last a week.

Came to find out the bushings in some KYB forks are pressed in and don't come out, so I ended up having to buy a whole new to me fork leg.

The 2009 and newer models use quality Showa BPF forks, and those are good to go.

The CX triple tree stem takes the same 48300-60 top and bottom bearing setup that's been used for decades. I can tell ya, as an owner of a CX, the stock suspension for the bike isn't terrible. Which is a nice change of pace...

Thanks for the pointer, dude! I'm not finding CX forks on the market, but am finding XR1200. I know its a different topic, but happen to know if that's similar to the CX?

XR forks are longer than the CX. In all seriousness, parts fische and a tape measure/calipers are your best friends when swapping parts around.

I'm thinking, if you can find one, the XR1200 would be easiest, as coming off a similar bike as you have, won't need as much to set up.
