are all the barnett springs the same color, they usually come with three sets, are there grooves in the driven strips in the basket or the hub where the steels and fibers ride?, are you installing the one fiber with clutch fiber on one side last?, I've installed a few, never had one that didn't just work.

Here's how the story ends. I removed the Scorpion clutch after messing with it far too long. Dennis Kirk agreed to accept the return, despite how long I had it (I'll definitely give them my money again). There was something wrong with that clutch, though I may never know what.
Before reinstalling the stock clutch, I made the mods to the basket and pressure plate outlined in the HD's XR1000 Racing Bulletin. I also added an extra steel and friction plate. I took the bike out for a chilly and messy ride. Once the clutch was adjusted right, it was just fine and disengaged fully when I pulled the clutch lever. Once the summer racing season starts, I'll be able to tell if it slips at high RPMs, which is the chief reason I bought the Barnett unit.
