I have the stock air cleaner and have no problem with it....I need no more power than I have right now…I did install a somewhat simplistic EBS on it and get zero oil in the filter now......09 1200C

while i was laid off the last 6 weeks, i needed a project.
i did a bunch of work to my 2010 xl1200 low.
i had a set of cycle shack slip ons i wanted to put on, so i did.
then i wanted to add an air cleaner, but i could not afford a tuner, while out of work.
i ended up buying a used set of xieds for $30 off this site, thx!
so then i bought an el cheapo ebay small round air filter set up.
it went on, and fit ok, but once it was on, i hated the look.
a 4" air cleaner lets u see alot of the wire harness, and efi stuff.
its cover mounted on a 1/4 x 20 center stud.
many old school round covers mount on a center stud.
so i ordered a plain chrome round air cleaner cover for a 70s & 80 big twin.
i took the cover off the small one, put the 7" round cover over all of it.
the bonus is it will keep most of the rain off the filter.
i really dig the look. i got about $50 in the air cleaner, and the new cover.
i did find a better looking wing nut for it after the pic was taken.

yes, we should!

its tore apart at the moment. rear fender is off.
adding a rear touring turn signal bar,
lay down chrome curved licence plate mount,
a new tail lamp bulb, cause i just shattered it,
removing the rear fender reflectors, adding a sissy bar,
then re fitting the saddle bags.

i will be making new saddle bag supports this weekend.
the cheap ones i bought aint cutting it.

i will likely have to space out the bags a bit, to clear the new turn signals.
probably need longer stainless hardware to mount them.

Good luck with those Joe, I’ve been scratching my head about mounting a pair that were given me from my youngest boy. Yea, clearance issues abound.

i just drilled holes in the bags to match the mounting holes in the frame.
i did a 1.5" wide strip of 1/8" flat bar stock inside the bags, acts like an enormous washer.
i dropped the wheel, ran longer stainless bolts through from the inside pointing out, to protect the tire.

i did not want a throw over kit messing up the paint on my rear fender.
i unfortunately did find a rust spot on my rear fender, on the front, down under the battery box.

i got some cheapo saddle bag supports in there, but they are to flimsy.
making new ones this weekend. 1/8" flat stock should do fine.
just fill the argon tank for the welder last sat.

the size and shape of my bags dictated i had to remove the rear turn signals.
i bought a 99 and up touring turn signal bar, to replace them.
i will likely have to space out the bags a bit still.

Dont about this round stuff, mine came stock with a big fat chrome pregnant twinkie.

Now there is a tear drop FLH cover, over top a Stage One HD FLH air box.

Yup on a 1200C sporty

I fabricated this air cleaner.
Diamond plate was used for the cover, just because I had a small piece.
The K&N element fits an MGA car.
