Default How to install a rear chain tensioner (and where) ?

I always like the idea to have a constant tension on the rear chain. But I can't find a place good to be installed.
I mean : on swingarm or even on lower side of frame, it will be affected by the compression and extension of the shocks.

There isn't enough suspension travel to make it useful. Maybe on a dirt bike with 14" of suspension travel, but not on a Sportster with 2-3".

I always looked at this one. Probably I need someome who used it on a Sportster with stock frame, and his advices and comments.

I'd like to have the minimal slack on chain.
I know is not strictly needed but having a constant tension on the chain is a desiderable thing.

That is why I use a modified Hayden tensioner on the primary chain; it reduces vibration. It also introduces some give in the transmission
to reduce shock loadings and makes gear changes easier. However, I tend to agree with John regarding the drive chain. And, I am not
overly impressed with the drive chain tensioner designs that I have seen.

Yes, I'm not impressed too by the design of the LBV tensioner.
I was more prone to try to build one with a delrin surface and a spring.
How you modified the Primary chain tensioner?

Off road bikes use this kind of system but they can be noisy. The Hayden also adds a whining noise until the primary chain beds into the face of the pad.
I don't see the advantage with the short travel on the Sportster.
